Case Study: Jersey Shore Wallpaper
iPhone App
The Jersey Shore Wallpaper App makes your iPhone a window into the beautiful, relaxing world of the Jersey shore. watch beautiful, high resolution videos from all over the region - from Sandy Hook to Cape May. Additionally, you can choose your favorite shore town and receive several days of weather information, tides tables and sunrise/sunset times.
App Objectives
The Jersey Shore Videoscape App had the objectives of: (1) Providing beautiful videos of the Jersey shore that would cycle continuously on an iPhone; (2) Providing weather, tide and sunrise/sunset information for a selected shore location; and (3) Provide the ability to manage the Jersey shore videos.
App Implementation
In order to address the objectives, Weblications mapped out an application that addressed the what a Jersey shore loving individual would like to see on their iPhone in terms of sea scape videos. For weather conditions, it was determined that weather, low/high tide info and sunrise/sunset info would be most useful - especially if an individual is vacationing for the summer at the Jersey Shore - what better App could one have? Finally, we wanted to provide a mechanism for the user to manage the videos that get are displayed. This App was first designed on the iPad and then ported to the iPhone. The functionality was essentially the same, but the presentation and some of the design elements were pretty different.
App Results
The iPhone App took about 1 month to create. Since it was our first iPhone App, there was a lot to learn and we wanted to experiment as much as anything else with the capabilities of the iPhone in terms of programming, video presentation and navigational techniques. It was then submitted to Apple and approved by them without any problems.
We are hoping to add some nice boardwalk videoscapes in the next release of the App.
App Benefits
The App does beautiful justice to the jersey shore with he videos that are provided. The weather conditions at the various spots along the shore are especially helpful to those who are spending the summer or vacationing at the shore.
